Once you have space on your computer, figure out what version of OS X you would like to install. On older versions, you can find the previous versions of OS X installed on your Mac by opening the App Store > Applications and viewing your Purchase page. Click the Install button next to the macOS you want to download.

Once Apple revealed that Mavericks would both be free and available for download immediately, we almost fell over in our chairs in our haste to download it onto our systems. However, we were pragmatic enough to realize that there could be problems with the roll-out considering how many other people would be attempting to do the same.

I need to install XCode on Mavericks. What is the last version of XCode that is supported on Maverics and how do I get it? Current version of XCode requires Yosemite and unfortunately don't whant upgrade to it with my iMac for now ?Which version, additional files do I have to download.By the way, I'm not a pro.

In some cases, people attempting to install the OS are running into a problem where the Mavericks installer claims the hard disk is damaged and needs to be repaired. Other times Mavericks might be hung up downloading from the Mac App Store, or never complete its final installation steps.

If the system has restarted and you are at the Mavericks installation progress with no OS running in the background, then your only option is to force-restart the system by holding the power button. This unfortunately can be risky, but in most cases should allow the system to reboot normally in the prior version of OS X. If so, then try running some general maintenance routines, and optionally download and re-apply the latest "Combo" updater for your version of OS X, before attempting the installation again.

At the time of this notice, FreeSWITCH still installed and worked fine on Mavericks. If desired, you can attempt to download Xcode using the lines below and follow the manual installation instructions.

Xcode takes a while to download and is placed into the Applications folder (/Applications directory) with the Command Line Tools in /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer.

Xcode 6.2 is no longer available from the OS X App Store so must be downloaded from the OS X Developer site which requires a minimum of a free membership. Xcode takes a while to download and is placed into the Applications folder (/Applications directory) with the CLT in /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer. Once installed start Xcode to accept the license agreement.

However, now there's no way to get it to download again. When I find OS/X Mavericks in the store, I click on the "Download" link. It asks for my Apple ID which I enter, and it does absolutely nothing. It doesn't begin downloading, and it just still shows the "Download" button. Clicking on it again does nothing.

I'm thinking there's something stuck somewhere, like some flag that says this download is in progress or it has already been downloaded. Is there some way to clear that out so I can start downloading it again?

EDIT: try checking and resuming the download in your Launchpad, progress should be shown on/in Launchpad. you can also delete the App in Launchpad by clicking and holding on the App until a close 'X' appears on the App. Then try re-downloading the App from the App Store.

It may have gotten corrupt and cant be overwritten when it tries to download again. Then open your app store back up and give it another shot. Also please be careful. The RM command is a powerful and dangerous tool. You should definitely have good backups :)

Go to the App Store. Search for Mavericks. The little box will only say "Free" and nothing you do will get it to download. Instead, click on the Mavericks link to bring up the whole splash page describing Mavericks. The (larger) button now should say "Download" and will warn you that you already have Mavericks installed. Clicking on the Download button should start it downloading.

In my case the url was simply not correct, with which homebrew wanted to download the required file. I looked it up here -releases/1.6.16/ by myself and copied it to /Library/Caches/Homebrew like @Dan suggested.

This script reaches out directly to Apple and downloads all the pieces that form the macOS install app. At the end it will install to a blank dmg image. In the end you have a fresh macOS Install app in a .dmg!

How do I download macOS High Serra 10.13? If searching High Sierra in the App Store comes up empty how can I download it? You have to visit the Apple Upgrading to High Sierra Support Page for the direct App Store link.

We are off to the races now! The first thing you will notice is that instead of downloading macOS Mojave Installer inside the App Store it opens Software Update. Software Update will search for the Installer and ask if you are sure you want to download the 6gb Mojave Installer. After clicking download you will get a new prompt for admin credentials to start the download (not to actually install yet). After the download completes you will finally have the latest macOS installer.app.

I showed you how to download the macOS installer through the Mojave Mac App store. The thing is, a better way to download the full installer exists and is called installinstallmacos.py. I was going to explain how to use installinstallmacos.py here but now realize the topic deserves a full article. I did not even get into hardware specific (Forked) builds. As you can see we have a lot to go over, so stay tuned. I will put the link here when complete.
